My Favorite Hiking Spots!

Hey guys! For this blog post I decided to talk about my favorite activity to do outdoors that helps me escape the stress of everyday life. From hiking to fishing, or just taking my dog for a walk, I have found that getting fresh air is the best medicine around. During the coronavirus pandemic and being stuck at home, I really embraced the beautiful Pennsylvania wilderness and explored as many hiking trails as I could. Hiking is one of my favorite things to do with my dog and friends and I’m going to talk about a few of the best spots I visited. One of the coolest places I’ve been to is Boulder Field at Hickory Run State Park in White Haven, PA. There are many hiking trails and the best part are the huge boulders that span far across the area. Many people try stacking stones and rocks as high as they can, which is a trend scattered all throughout the park and one that I'm sure you've seen before. I also got to hike the Shades of Death trail in Jim Thorpe, which has an awesome waterfall that we were able to stand under and cool off. Another really cool place that I've been to a bunch of times is Concrete City in Nanticoke, PA. Concrete City is about ten minutes from my high school, so my friends and I used to go there all the time after school just for fun!

Frances Slocum State Park is by far my favorite place to take my dog for walks, which we usually go with some company as you can see in the picture below. My family and I always go for walks at the Penn State Wilkes-Barre campus because it is so close to my home. They have a trail that leads off the campus and is really nice to walk on during the sunset. I hope you were able to gain some ideas for where to take you next hike and enjoy it as much as I do. Thanks for reading! :)
